Water Flow Information
Updated Monday through Friday (except holidays)
Water conditions as of Monday, January 13, 2025. Please be aware that water conditions can change drastically at any time depending upon weather and dam operations.
Coeur d'Alene Lake
The elevation of Coeur d'Alene Lake this morning is 2123.01, which is about 5 feet below maximum summer level. Lake elevation is now at its natural level as water flowing out of the lake is limited by the natural outlet restriction. Post Falls dam will pass whatever water flows out of Coeur d'Alene Lake. We expect the elevation of the lake and the water in the river to decrease over the next week.
Spokane River between Coeur d'Alene Lake and the Post Falls Bridge
The following information is concerning water levels between Coeur d'Alene Lake and the Post Falls bridge. The present water level at the Spokane Street Bridge is 2119.83, which is about 7 feet 11 inches below normal summer level. We expect the level of the water above the dam to remain about the same over the next week.
Spokane River below Post Falls
The flow in the Spokane River below Post Falls this morning is about 5050 cfs, of which about 4910 cfs is flowing in the South Channel and about 150 cfs is flowing in the North Channel. Flows in the river below Post Falls dam will decrease over the next week. The flow in the Spokane River at Spokane this morning is about 5270 cfs. Flows at Spokane are expected to decrease over the next week.
Lake Spokane at the Long Lake Dam
The elevation of Lake Spokane at the Long Lake dam is 1535.3, which is at normal fall level. We have begun our annual drawdown of Lake Spokane. Weather permitting, the lake elevation will decrease as much as a foot a day over the next month as we draw down the lake behind Long Lake dam by as much as 14 feet.
It is important to remember that water levels could change drastically due to a variety of factors such as weather or equipment problems at the Post Falls dam. So stay alert to signs of such changes and always exercise the highest level of personal caution when using the waterways.
